Prezi is a fun, exciting and non-conventional zoom presentation tool allowing you to focus on the details, as well as showing the big picture. I am sure many of you have used Power Point to present, which is built for linear, slide by slide navigation. Your thinking is also linear. When you try to navigate a Prezi presentation for the first time, it may be frustrating or even annoying, since you might be looking for those familiar features, like flipping slides one after the other, content broken up to fill these square shapes, online you might expect audio to hear.
With Prezi you need to step out of the box. Imagine that you only have one huge slide, a big wall or poster, where you place all the pieces of your presentation (text, image, flash video) in a very creative manner anywhere on this huge work space.
Navigating a Prezi presentation may be confusing for many of us first, but as you get accustomed to it, it is fun. I really enjoy working with this tool. When you create your Prezi presentation, with the Path tool you can connect various pieces in the order you want them to appear one after the other, it is like connecting dots on a picture puzzle. One way of navigating a Prezi presentation is using the Autoplay mode or for manual navigation, the forward button to follow the preset sequence of your production. It almost looks like a movie camera moving around on your big slide or poster, zooming in and out and moving left, right, up and down. When the presentation includes an embedded movie, use the manual mode. Autoplay will not wait until the movie finishes.
The zoom navigation sets Prezi apart from other PowerPoint type of presentation tools.
You can also use the zoom button to zoom out any time to see the big picture and then click into another area and zoom in to see the details. You can easily switch between the sequential navigation and zoom navigation. And don’t forget that you can also click anywhere in the presentation area with your mouse and with the mouse wheel you can zoom in and out .
The easiest to navigate in Prezi, is the Full Screen mode.
Prezi will give an impressive illustration to your live presentation. Your can keep your audience interested from the beginning to the end.

How to Create a Podcast?

Good afternoon! You are listening to My Web 2 Learn with Ilona. Today is October 16, 2009
Today we’ll talk about how to create a podcast.
Last time we talked about how to subscribe to podcasts using RSS feeds and how to listen to them in a podcatcher program, such as iTunes or Google.  Earlier we discussed the origin of the word “podcast”, which is put together from the words iPod and broadcast. We also mentioned that podcast can be described as people’s radio on the web. We can also view it as automated audio file delivery.
So if you want to create your own podcast, you basically need three things:
1.      a pre-recorded audio file
2.      a server to host your audio, and
3.      RSS feed, which your listeners need to subscribe to your programming.
First record your voice. One way of doing it is using your computer with a microphone and audio recording/editing software, such as the free Audacity program which you can download from audacity.sourceforge.net.
When you finished recording and editing your file, save it in MP3 format.
Next you need to upload your audio file to a server with RSS feed support. The easiest way of starting a podcast is choosing a free podcast hosting service with some limitations, such as mypodcast.com. They provide an easy to use interface.
You can become a podcaster overnight. Update your program regularly to keep your audience coming back. If you are a programmer type of person, you can host your podcast on your own website. But let’s talk about that next time.
Remember. Podcast can make you learn better. Goodbye.

Good afternoon! You are listening to My Web 2 Learn podcast hosted by Ilona Lantos. Today is September 30, 2009Today I want to chat about what the word “podcast” means.
First of all “Podcast” is a compound word put together from Pod and Cast.
Pod was adopted from the word "iPod", which is a portable audio player invented by Apple corporation. You can upload your favorite music onto an iPod in MP3 format. This became the most popular audio file format on the web. You will use the MP3 file type for your podcast.
Cast comes from the word “broadcast” as we use this word in relation to radio or tv broadcast.
Podcast can be described as people’s radio on the web. It is a very effective and popular format to reach a large audience and to express yourself. Podcasting became very popular not only among lay people such as me and you, but also among businesses, government, universities and media.
Next time we are going to talk about how podcast works.
Podcast can make you learn better. Bye now.
